The Pregnancy Care Center. I am passionate about their work because I believe when a woman or girl finds out she’s pregnant, it’s our job as a community to come around her and support her and give her the best chance of success, in all areas—physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually—in her life and the life of her child. It’s possible to still be a wild success in life with an unplanned pregnancy. I’ll always champion that girl!
Yes. I have started a small nonprofit through which I’ve funded several family’s adoptions. I legally adopted my first five children after I married their widower father, so adoption is so, so near and dear to my heart. I also take my children to local nursing homes regularly and on holidays and have for many years to sing and play music for the elderly.
A beautiful woman is healthy and happy in her heart, mind, spirit and body and sees the unique value she can bring to the world.
I am most proud of the fact that my first “fab five” children have become thriving teens and children. The nightmare they walked through was something no one on earth should have to endure, and the fact that I’ve been their mom the past nine years and they’ve grown into healthy and happy people is just a blessing to me.
The day I married my husband and became an instant mom. That moment was so special and absolutely changed my life so immediately and drastically at 23 and has only continued to change it for the better.
My mother, of course! She was full of love, happiness, joy, and fun. She made every day seem like sunshine. She could take a boring moment and make it so exciting. Rocks became game pieces and sticks became objects for life lessons. She poured out generously to her family, the neighborhood children and our community.
Girl, nobody can be you! You are unique and perfect just the way you are! Your beauty radiates from your heart, your smile, your kind words, your big hugs. Walk confidently knowing that your worth is far beyond your wardrobe, your beauty is far beyond your body and your future is far beyond anything you can imagine! Go for it.
I grew up on a farm and have always been really involved in production agriculture. For years, I thought it wasn’t cool to be the girl who knew all the plants and trees around, and when I finally really found my identity a couple years ago, I decided to just be the best version of my authentic self—to rock it, to own it and to be ok with it, and so I launched The Farmhouse Movement magazine, which is now on major newsstands around the world. I’m walking confidently in who I am and unfolding the Farmhouse story for our generation.
My faith is definitely my rock and inspires me to be better every day. I am inspired by my family members and friends, but one of the things that inspires me the most is to see women, day in, day out, overcome all odds and rise up out of impossible situations to pursue their dreams in business. The ones who weren’t supposed to make it inspire me the most.
Is there anywhere in 417-land that isn’t beautiful? Every lake, river and stream provide peace to our region. The plants and trees are as diverse and beautiful as anywhere in the world. The landscapes are unique and full of variation. But the people here are the best part. You’ll always find a warm smile, a generous encounter—our first meal in town was paid for by a perfect stranger—and friendships to last a lifetime.
I love how many entrepreneurs are here in our region. I think creating and maintaining a consistent market for them here, keeping their doors open and their revenue coming in, and elevating their offerings and brands is key to keeping up with the demands of online markets and overseas trade. America was built on small businesses, and I believe those small businessmen and businesswomen are our future as well.
