Spy Fiery Fall Color
It’s too early to find changing leaves this month, but as the season progresses we’ll see blazing fall color in southwest Missouri. Why not go for a drive to take it all in? We recommend the Glade Top Trail near Ava. The scenic drive through Mark Twain National Forest is also incredible in the fall. Head down to Branson and take our advice on some creative ways to see fall color from unique vantage points or from the water. Or, if you're feeling a little more adventurous, try one of these colorful hikes.
Get Lost in a Corn Maze
The smell of dry corn stalks with the crunching of fallen leaves underfoot takes us right back to childhood. Visit a local corn maze and tap into a little nostalgia. Most sites also have games, snacks, hayrides and more.
Pick a Perfect Pumpkin
Scouring a pumpkin patch for the perfect gourd is a quintessential fall experience. Ideal local patches can be found at Rutledge-Wilson Farm, Fassnight Creek Farm, Pickin' Patch Farm, Campbell's Maze Daze & Pumpkin Patch and Onward Acres.
Enjoy the Great Outdoors
The great outdoors is one of our best assets here in 417-land. Whether you choose to hike, camp or float, you're sure to enjoy the crisp temperatures and brilliant fall colors. Also try your hand at an Ozarks tradition and head out hunting.
Decorate for Fall and Halloween
Refresh your front porch or interior decor with heirloom pumpkins and gourds to make you smile every time you arrive home. Also try surrounding your senses with the season by lighting an autumn inspired candle. Outdo yourself and impress your family with a thoughtful tablesetting. Then, at the end of the season, discard your organic decor in an eco-friendly way.
