One of 417 Magazine’s goals is to share the good life in 417-land—the most exciting events, the tastiest local dishes, the most breathtaking outdoors vistas. And we love when readers tell us, “I tried that after I saw it in the magazine, and it was amazing!” But we know that sometimes getting out to enjoy the Ozarks can be tough. Maybe you don’t have time to plan out all the details. Maybe you’re new to the outdoors and don’t know how to start. Or maybe you just want a more upscale experience than simply hitting the trail on your own.
If any of those apply to you, don’t worry: We got you.
We’re so excited to announce that we’ve partnered with 37 North Expeditions to create Experience 417, an event series that combines our love for the sharing the beauty of the Ozarks with 37 North’s outdoorsy chops. Together, we guide guests through new Experience 417 adventures every month—and all you have to do is sign up.
No experience needed. No work to do. Just fun in the great outdoors.
The events are designed to be super-accessible for beginners (or anyone who just doesn’t want to have to handle the details) but still a uniquely fun experience for seasoned outdoor adventurers.
Events max out at 20 to 30 participants, making each experience exclusive and deeply engaging. Ready to find out what’s on the agenda? There are more events to come later in the year, but for now you can sign up for the first five month’s of adventures.

February
Savor & Stargaze: Gourmet Night Sky Experience
Our kickoff event is an evening at Two Rivers Mountain Bike Park that’s all about taking in the starry night sky and indulging in a gourmet meal prepared just for you. Guests will gather around the campfire, where their meal of seasonal flavors is cooked over an open flame. Afterward, expert astronomers teach you all about the stars above while you view the night sky through telescopes.

Wonders of the Ozarks: Scenic Waterfall Edition
March is one of the best times to view waterfalls in the Ozarks—but you have to know where to find them. Guests are taken via shuttle to locations around the upper Buffalo National River and embark on light hikes to see the waterfalls. Bring your camera, because you’ll want to snap some pics of these beautiful spots.

Trail to Table: Morel Hunt & Fireside Feast
Foraging for the tasty plants that grow naturally in 417-land is a lot easier when you have experienced guides showing you where to find them. Hunt for the beloved morel mushroom, then gather around a campfire where the mushrooms are turned into a meal.

Wheel &Wander: Local Neighborhood Art & Bike Tour
Your 37 North guides take you on a leisurely bike ride through a Springfield neighborhood to take in its charm and learn about architecture that shaped the community.

River Adventure Float on the James
This immersive kayaking trip down the beautiful James River features gravel bar stops where 37 North staff offer unique experiences. It’s the perfect first float for beginners, with unexpected gravel bar fun along the way that will engage even the most seasoned kayakers.
