Meet a Staffer: Ammie Scott

Every month, we introduce you to one of the people who work on 417 Magazine. This month, meet Ammie Scott.

Jan 2014

How long have you been working here?
Approximately 1,276 days.

Describe what you do at work day-to-day.
I talk to local businesses about their marketing goals, and I share with them ways that we may be able to help them reach their goals.

What would you do if you won $1 million?
I would feel like “FINALLY!” TTBJ!

Describe something that was particularly exciting this month.
Coming up with a rap for our Food Wars: Battle of the Wraps contest. Kyle and Debbie did beat box while I rapped. Turns out, we are better sales people than rappers.

What is your very favorite piece of magazine lingo?
Renewal. Most of my clients do renew their ad contracts, and that means that 417 Magazine worked for them and their businesses! That makes me very happy!

What is your Facebook status right now?
“Our relationship began in high school, we were inseparable in college... I couldn’t have made it through my twenties without you! My toughest financial times you stood by me and never judged me. Now as an adult, I enjoy you whenever I feel like it. Thanks, Ramen Noodles, for always being there for me.”

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever had to do for this job?
I have had to do several odd things. I recently helped make it snow for the Blue Raven ad.

What’s your favorite thing to do in 417-land?
I am fortunate to have all of my family live in 417-land. We get together each Sunday at my parents’ house for dinner. It means so much to me, and I am so thankful to have them close.

What’s your favorite thing to eat that you can only find in 417-land?
I really enjoy eating at several local places, but there are certain days that Mexican Villa cheese dip calls my name, and I can’t resist.

If there were a movie about your life in 417-land, what would its title be?
Making it Count Before the Clock Runs Out.

What celebrity would you most like to have coffee and conversation with?
Jimmy Buffett. I would like to be able to write a few songs with him.

Do you have a nickname in the 417 Magazine office?
I don’t know what they call me when I’m not there. Some people call me Amos. I grew up being called Famous Amos.

What do you do in your free time?
Most of my free time is spent with my 13-year-old daughter, McKenzie. We always turn everything into an adventure.

What’s your dream vacation, and what five people would you take with you?
I have always wanted to stay at the over-water bungalows in Bora Bora, and I don’t think I would want five people in there with me.

What would your co-workers say is your most distinguishing feature at work?
When I am in the office, people tend to speak to me with a British accent, because I like to speak with a British accent. I do it so often that I don’t even realize I’m doing it anymore.
