I’m a big, big fan of freeze-dried fruits and veggies. They’re great to bring as lightweight snacks on hikes and long walks, and in my family, freeze dried fruit is also a favorite road trip nibble since it’s less sticky than typical dried fruit and has a satisfying crunch that sometimes keeps us from dipping into chips and less nutritious snacks. Now, you can get freeze dried fruits from Farmers Market of the Ozarks at the stall manned by Ozarks-based Fast and Forever Foods. The varieties are even a little surprising: kiwi, bananas and a blend of berries. So I’ll be grabbing some to stash in my glove box to keep as emergency hangry helpers for when my kids get the munchies on the road.
