Summer just got a whole lot sweeter. On Wednesday, July 17, Andy’s Frozen Custard held a tasting event in partnership with Silver Dollar City to highlight their freezes. These freezes are a bit of a secret menu item that not many people know Andy’s has offered for a long time. A freeze is Andy’s classic vanilla frozen custard blended with any of their Sprecher soda options, Coke or Dr. Pepper.
Andy’s invited 417 to try the sweet treats and taste the goodness ourselves. I sampled:
• The Fire in the Hole Freeze featuring Andy’s frozen custard blended with Sprecher Root Beer
• The Orange Freeze featuring Andy’s vanilla frozen custard blended with Sprecher Orange Dream Soda
• The StarBlast Freeze featuring Andy’s vanilla frozen custard blended with key lime, raspberry and Sprecher Cream Soda
I was most excited to get my hands on the Fire in the Hole Freeze because I am a sucker for a root beer float. This one was my favorite! It was thick like a milkshake but easy to sip on the go, and it had an even taste of frozen custard and soda in every sip.
The Orange Freeze has been popular this summer and was a crowd favorite at the event. This treat was extra sweet, and the vanilla frozen custard provided the perfect balance to tone down the citrus in the orange. Think orange dreamsicle!
If you’re looking for something super-sweet, the StarBlast Freeze is for you. This one resembled a raspberry limeade—perfect for a hot summer’s day.
While at the event, Carol Kuntz—co-founder of Andy’s Frozen Custard—let us sample her favorite secret menu combination: vanilla frozen custard blended with Sprecher Cream Soda and Oreos. It was as good as it sounds! The Oreo cookies added a crunchy texture with just a hint of chocolate—yum.
If you haven’t tried a freeze yet, now is the time. Let us know which combination is your favorite!
