—Tickled Pink—
From blush to bubblegum, there’s no doubt that pink is on trend. Lighter shades in soft knits, show stopping sleeves and shoulder-baring tops could be a popular choice as these looks are sweeping the street style scene and local boutiques. If pastels are too expected for your spring debut look, plenty of 417-land shops are offering up brighter pink styles, from hot pink to neon. These on-trend hues are just as punchy as they are pretty. Pair lighter shades of pink with leather, (another big spring trend) for a look that’s special but still easy-breezy. Punchy shades look great with animal print or other vibrant prints. When accessorizing with pink, don’t shy away from lots of layers of bling! Diamonds in shades of blue, opals and moonstones make lovely choices to pair with the popular hue.
—Utilitarian Style—
Practical but still stylish, these utility pieces had a resurgence in 2019 and will be in full force again this spring. Inspired by military and menswear garments, the utilitarian style often includes shirt dresses, cargo pants, safari jackets, accessories made with practical materials, small stripes, army greens, khaki and gobs of pockets. Last year’s pant suit has become this year’s cargo set. Bags get a utility makeover as well, with influencers opting for leather belt bags, fanny packs, messengers and crossbody bags over handled bags. Watches are a must with this look—remember, it’s about being practical! Think oversized military-style watches and classic smaller styles with leather bands. Glam up simple stripes with simple diamond necklaces, tennis bracelets and classic women’s watches.
—Hello, Sunshine—
From bags to shoes, yellow is going to be everywhere, adding a much-needed bit of optimism to our wardrobes. The trend skews bright and canary-colored, but you can experiment with different variations (mustard, pastel or neon, for example). Tailor the shade to suit your personality either by balancing the poppy color with neutral hues or by color blocking with other other colors like green, pink or blue. A striking print paired with a pop of sunshine yellow can also be a bold and funky choice. Yellow diamonds and layers of gold pair well with yellow because of their matching warm tones that bring an element of glamour to the cheery, casual hue.
—The Best of Spring Beauty—
When it comes to hair, spring is all about movement, texture and bounce. Modern shags, lovely layers, ‘70s bangs, and “The Rachel” are some runway and street style looks that seem to be all the rage. Fancy something shorter? Longer asymmetrical lobs and chin-length blunt cuts are great choices because they can be styled curly or straight, as shorter looks often look best only one way. Want a new do without the commitment? Make like celebrities Keira Knightley, Gwen Stefani and Selma Blair, and transform your look with a high-quality wig. Makeup for spring is glowy and full of pinks, mauves and pearlescent hues. It’s no surprise that beauty follows fashion as yellow liners and dusty pastels are also popping up in spring beauty lines everywhere.
