Josh Widner is at it again. After helping open Scotch & Soda, Cherry Picker Package x Fare and Golden Girl Rum Club, Widner teamed up with Jim Wilson to open Best of Luck Beer Hall (313-B S. Jefferson Ave., Springfield, 417-522-9009) in downtown Springfield.
Located a quick walk from the Springfield's Park Central Square, the duo transformed a 3,000-square-foot banquet hall into a tasting room worthy of your wildest Sunday funday dreams. We're talkin' 32 beers on tap, sharable plates, cocktails, massive TVs, arcade games and a bocce ball court.
Almost every style of beer will be available and treated with care—meaning your beer will be the perfect temperature when you take that first sweet sip. Not sure what to order? Staffers, who have gone through cicerone training, act as your beer sommeliers. Wilson says that Best of Luck is about beer education, and the concept fulfills a need for Springfield.
Get in a healthy dose of competition and round up 2, 4, or 8 players for a game of bocce.
Purchase PhotoFor those who aren't beer inclined, there's a killer cocktail menu, too along with sharable punches. We're excited to sample the different spritzes—the Campari Spritz with Campari, rosé, lemon cordial, rhubarb and soda sounds particularly refreshing.
Soak up your drink of choice with funky snacks and dishes like a fried chicken sandwich with Korean chili aioli, kimchi slaw and cilantro or a $1 deviled egg that changes daily.
As for entertainment, classic arcade games like Pac-Man are on hand, there will be trivia nights and, during the summer, the bocce court could be transformed into a lawn for movie nights. Wilson puts it simply: "Our vibe is hanging out with groups." We recommend adding this one to your fun list for the next time friends or family come to town.
