Big Day Bliss: Brooke Zimmerman and Noe Lopez headed to Springfield’s Commercial Street for a wedding at the Savoy Ballroom.

It was a Dallas Cowboys hat that brought Brooke and Noe Lopez together. Noe had just moved to Arkansas and started attending Brooke’s church, and she thought he was cute. Brooke vividly remembers the first thing he ever said to her. “He said ‘I like your hat!’ with this huge and cute smile,” she says. “We were friends for a year before we started dating.”

The couple went to the movies on their first date, opting for more smiles with a showing of Ice Age 3. Brooke and Noe then went to a park to talk. Their relationship progressed over the next two years, and the pair fell in love. Then one night, Noe told Brooke he wanted to take her to a nice restaurant.

“He picked me up and took me to the area where the restaurant was, but we stopped by a park because he said we had a few minutes before our reservation,” she says. “We stopped underneath a canopy of trees, a spot that we visited quite frequently in the beginning of our relationship. We stood side by side looking out onto the lake, and the next thing I knew, he was on one knee pulling a beautiful ring out of his shirt pocket.” 

A photographer nearby had captured photos of the whole event, and afterwards, Noe brought Brooke back to his house where the couple’s family members were waiting for them with a catered dinner and an engagement cake. 

The celebrations continued a year later when the two were wed July 25, 2015, at the Savoy Ballroom. Brooke dazzled in a sparkling trumpet dress from Normans Bridal, where her bridesmaids’ romantic dresses were found as well. 

The outdoor ceremony was classic and refined with a string trio accompanying Brooke’s walk down the aisle. During the reception, the room’s focal point was a romantic buttercream cake made by family friend Jewel Woodward, who also baked the bride’s parents’ wedding cake.

Extra little details, like this cute Happily Ever After sign, helped complete the wedding day decor. 

 

The couple was married at the Savoy Ballroom, and its Commercial Street location provided some fun photo opportunities. 

 

The groom, Noe Lopez, stands with his best man, Jonathan Gladysz, his groomsmen Cody Bender, Jake Zimmerman, Alek Beard and Eli Foster and his ushers Jordan Beever and Phil Cook. Cade Harrison served as the ring bearer.

 

Guests were given sparklers to light a path down Commercial Street for Brooke and Noe’s departure.

 

The Savoy Ballroom’s outdoor space provided the perfect backdrop for the summertime affair.

 

Jewel Woodward made the three-tier classic white wedding cake with buttercream icing.

 

 As a music major at Evangel University, Brooke wanted string music to accompany the ceremony. She’s set to graduate in spring 2017.

 

Classically romantic and sweet, the bride’s dress and her bridesmaids’ gowns were all purchased at Normans Bridal. For a personal touch, each bridesmaid chose a favorite pair of heels to match.

 

Cute wooden signs with love- and marriage-related sayings were sprinkled throughout the venue to add to the event’s decor.

 

A few color photos helped add a splash of liveliness to the guest book. 

 

String bulb lights, fresh florals and a fabric backdrop set the perfect wedding day scene in the Savoy Ballroom’s outdoor space. 

 

Featuring light pink and ivory swirls of buttercream frosting, the cake served as the reception’s show-stopping centerpiece. The cake was made by a family friend Jewel Woodward, who made the bride’s parents’ wedding cake 28 years ago.
