Being stranded in the Chicago-O’Hare airport was a defining moment for both Lindsay O’Reilly and Justin French. They both agreed that it was the
stressful experience in the crowded airport that made each of them know that the other was “the one.” “I didn’t know how he would react, but he was
fine with it,” says Lindsay. “When they told us that we might be stranded for three days, she just accepted it, and we watched DVD’s and went to the
bar,” Justin says. “I figured if she could be so calm, she was someone that I should probably marry.”
And that’s exactly what he did last November at the same resort area, Siesta Key, Florida, that they were headed to on their fateful day.
“I wanted a small wedding with family and close friends,” says Lindsay. “And Siesta Key was the perfect location.” Lindsay grew up going there with
her family, and she and Justin had been several times. Lindsay, a scion of the O’Reilly Auto Parts family, decided that a destination wedding was best
for the intimate setting they both wanted. Father Eddie DeLeon, Lindsay’s former priest and part of MSU Catholic Campus Ministries, flew down from
Chicago to officiate over the ceremony. Justin’s best friend, Erich Long, was the best man and Lindsay’s childhood friend, Anne Harris (who
introduced them), was the maid of honor. Lindsay’s son, Reilly Herndon, was a groomsman.
The wedding colors were turquoise and orange, and the reception took place at the Lido Beach Resort. The couple honeymooned at the exclusive St.
Lucia Jade Mountain Hotel and Resort where they had an infinity pool in their room.
The Frenches have settled comfortably into married life after their four-year courtship and stay busy with Reilly, their careers and many community
activities.—Kim Swain
